Unlike many great business ideas, ours is quite sentimental. The idea was birthed at the end of 2021 when I was sitting alongside my mother who was in the hospital fighting hard to overcome her illness.
One day while visiting with her, I shared the idea of the coffee cart vision, and much to my surprise, she immediately loved it! My mom saw the potential and believed it could grow into something great and insisted that I pursue this dream. While I loved her enthusiasm, I lovingly pushed back knowing the timing was not right.
Unfortunately, soon after that conversation, my mom went to be with the Lord. In a conversation that followed the week of her passing, my father reminded me of that day and how much my mom was in favor of moving forward with the business. He encouraged me to move forward with the idea, knowing how proud my mom would have been.
It didn’t take long for me to realize he was right. Therefore, in honor of my mom’s memory, I have decided to take action. Starting with the name. I chose The Hummingbird Coffee because Hummingbirds were her favorite bird.
